In a powerful keynote at the AllAfrica Media Summit in Nairobi, Mamadou Kwidjim Toure, founder of Ubuntu Tribe, introduced a groundbreaking solution for Africa’s economic challenges. His vision centers on Metaverse technology and the tokenization of gold to create new opportunities for wealth preservation and media monetization.
Toure began by highlighting the transformative potential of the Metaverse, referencing the digital stands, 3D animations, and immersive experiences that have sparked global curiosity. “This is the future,” he declared, “but what’s critical is how we started Ubuntu Tribe.”
He explained the growing frustration in African countries where depreciating currencies erode hard-earned wealth. His solution? Tokenized gold. Africa, home to 48% of the world’s gold reserves and 70% of platinum, has seen gold appreciate significantly against local currencies. Over the past five years, gold has risen by 233% against the Kenyan shilling and 690% against the Nigerian naira.
By issuing digital gold certificates accessible via mobile phones for as little as 10 cents, Ubuntu Tribe empowers individuals to preserve their wealth and counter economic instability. “We’re giving people a way to protect their savings from forces beyond their control,” Toure said.
This innovative approach intertwines media monetization with economic empowerment, positioning Africa as a leader in digital finance.
